Warner is a small, prairie town located approximately 70 km southeast of Lethbridge in southern Alberta. About 20 km west of this unassuming town something remarkable was found. The first dinosaur nesting site ever found in Canada. The Devil’s Coulee Dinosaur Museum allows visitors to explore this amazing palaeontological discovery.
The initial discovery was made by a local teenager. Confirmed by palaeontologists from the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller, the Devil’s Coulee site has since revealed the nestings of several different dinosaur species as well as footprints, skeletons, and fossilized remains of turtles and clams.
Devil’s Coulee Dinosaur Museum hosts recreations and casts of these fossils, many of which you are allowed to touch and hold yourself. In addition, guided tours to the actual fossil site are available through the museum. You won’t be allowed to collect anything, but there’s always a chance you’ll find a newly uncovered treasure.
