The Fortune Head Geology Centre is a modest, volunteer run museum in the town of Fortune, Newfoundland and Labrador. It is located in the town’s tourist information building at the docks where the ferry to St. Pierre and Miquelon comes and goes.
The museum is seasonal, and being reliant on volunteer support, the season start date can vary. It highlights the Precambrian-Cambrian boundary for which it is a global reference. Exhibits include fossils, rocks and minerals, and even some dinosaurs because who doesn’t love dinosaurs.
There is a small fee for entry to the Fortune Head Geology Centre. They also offer birthday parties and kids camps. Perhaps you’ll include a visit as you make your way to France (St. Pierre and Miquelon) which is only a two hour ferry ride away.
